Team Visibility

The Manual Mess

Messy Spreadsheet Workflow
  • Static spreadsheets with "Silent" revenue leakage
  • Accidental double-bookings due to invisible timeline slippage

The Kickdrum Way

Optimized Dashboard View
  • Visual "White Space" instantly reveals team availability
  • Dynamic Gantt view flags downstream conflicts in real-time

Design Logic

Timeline over List

A list only tells you who is free; a timeline tells you how long they are free. I used a Gantt view to visualize gaps in schedule as intuitive "White Space," enabling rapid decision-making.

The Context Sidebar (Fitts's Law)

The Pivot: I chose a persistent right sidebar over a separate project page to minimize travel distance for the primary assignment action. Keeping unassigned projects accessible allows for immediate drag-and-drop allocation.

Instant Skill Matching

Exposing skills as "Primary Tags" directly on the team list solves the skill-vs-availability disconnect. Managers can now filter for niche expertise like "Service Design" and verify open dates in one viewport.

Reflection

Within the 48-hour constraint, I prioritized the 'Manager View' over the 'Individual Contributor View' to ensure a robust solution for the primary persona. If given more time, I would stress-test the UI for teams of 50+ members.

Thank You Illustration

You made it to the end.

This project was a 48-hour exercise in balancing technical constraints with user-centricity. I’m always open to discussing the logic behind these decisions—let's connect.
